Denise D’Rozario
Founder, Mindfulness Mentor
Befriending Peace, LLC denise@befriendingpeace.com

Denise has been a dedicated practitioner and student of mindfulness since 2017. She is a certified mindfulness mentor and has completed multiple mindfulness and meditation trainings with several respected teachers, including Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Eckhart Tolle, Kristin Neff and Jon Kabat-Zinn. Her personal practice includes a daily commitment to formal and informal meditation, ongoing participation in trainings, silent retreats, and mindfulness mentorship groups, as well as continued study of evidence-based mindfulness practices in Buddhist and secular traditions.

Denise discovered meditation and the power of presence during a time of personal grief and uncertainty in her life, and with each year she continues to experience the transformative power of practice on her mind and heart. It has deepened her sense of connection to herself and others, and helped her recognize that, regardless of how life unfolds it is possible to be in a place of true peace and contentment and have the capacity for wise and caring response over reactivity.

Denise holds a master’s degree in public affairs and brings decades of leadership and facilitation experience across diverse communities, spanning different ages, ethnicities, and social and professional backgrounds. Her career includes work in the social impact space, service on nonprofit boards, a former corporate career, and a long-time commitment to youth mentoring. She is a committed advocate for equity and mental well-being, and in recent years, she has focused on helping to create systems-level change in pediatric medical trauma care. This work, combined with her personal experience as a caregiver for an aging parent, led her to begin serving as a mindfulness mentor for caregivers in 2023.

With Befriending Peace, Denise is committed to offering welcoming and supportive small group spaces to share time-honored practices and the science of mindfulness and meditation with individuals seeking to cultivate more peace, connection and well-being in daily life.

From a poem that I love…

Peace is this moment without judgment.

That is all. This moment in the Heart-space

where everything that is is welcome.

Peace is this moment without thinking

that it should be some other way,

that you should feel some other thing,

that your life should unfold according to your plans.
